Ready, new build and off-plan: what the labels mean

A plain-language look at the status labels you see on property listings.

Listings often carry a status such as ready, new build or off-plan. Here is the general idea behind each.

  • Ready: the property exists and is typically available to move into.
  • New build: a recently completed or nearly complete property, often from a developer.
  • Off-plan: the property is sold before or during construction, so you buy from plans.

Payment schedules, guarantees and completion dates differ by country and developer. Ask the partner agency for the specifics and take independent legal advice.
